Masterki Privacy Policy

Overview
Masterki helps Android users create and review Anki cards with text, images, drawings, audio, AI-generated media, internet image search, review mode, and optional app blocking. This policy explains what information is processed when you use the Masterki Android app, backend API, and website.
Information We Process
The app may send card text, selected text, image prompts, uploaded drawings, camera or picker images you choose, selected internet image URLs, generated card drafts, generated media filenames, and audio-generation text to the Masterki backend. If you use app blocking, the app uses Android Usage Access locally to detect the foreground app and to rank installed apps by recent use. Usage Access data is used on your device for app blocking and app selection.
The app also stores settings on your device, including selected decks, blocked apps, preferred decks, theme settings, pending reviews, and AnkiWeb credentials if you choose to save them. AnkiDroid access is used to read deck/card state and write notes or media into AnkiDroid.
Backend, AI, and Search Providers
Masterki uses a backend hosted for the app to provide AI and media features. Depending on the feature, the backend may send your submitted text, prompts, images, or audio text to service providers including OpenAI, Google Gemini, Brave Search, and ElevenLabs. These providers process the data needed to return card drafts, generated images, search results, imported media, or speech audio.
The backend may keep generated or imported image and audio files so the app can retrieve them and import them into AnkiDroid. Backend logs and analytics may include request timing, endpoint names, platform, IP-derived request metadata, user agent, status codes, and card-generation counts. We use this to operate, debug, secure, and improve the service.
Photos, Camera, and Media
Masterki uses Android Photo Picker for choosing images from your device, which lets you select specific images without granting access to your whole photo library. Camera captures and drawings are processed only when you choose to add them to a card.
Website Cookies
The website may use Google tags for analytics or conversion measurement only after you allow cookies in the consent banner. You can continue without allowing cookies.
Sharing and Retention
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with service providers needed to run the app features, comply with law, protect the service, or operate infrastructure. Generated media and request analytics are retained as needed to provide the service, troubleshoot issues, and understand usage.
Your Choices
You can avoid AI/media processing by not using those features. You can disable app blocking, revoke Usage Access, revoke overlay or notification permissions, remove saved AnkiWeb credentials, or uninstall the app. You can also delete generated media from AnkiDroid using AnkiDroid’s own media management tools.
